Trans Day of Remembrance
I have November 20th marked on my calendar, but I often feel conflicted about how to honor it properly.
For the less familiar, each year on November 20th, we pause for Trans Day of Remembrance – a day that carries weight, grief, and the undeniable reminder that the world is still not safe for too many in our community. This day honors trans and non-binary individuals who have died by violence in the last year. Working at Grooby, a company built by working closely with trans people, this day isn’t an abstract day. Trans people of color, but particularly sex workers, die by violence at higher rates than their counterparts. We hold this day with empathy, grief, and the unique responsibility we believe as a company to have in creating positive change for the community we serve.

Sit with these names. Say them aloud. Hold space for our community today. Tomorrow, tomorrow we will fight. Today, we grieve in community for our community.
