Celebrating 20 years of Bob’s TGirls: Day 2) Camila de Castro

As big of a star that Vaniity is here in the US, Camila was her counterpart in Brazil. Initially she was a real pain in the ass to deal with. In 2003, I finally got her to shoot with Persian Blue, my photographer in Brazil.

I then visited Brazil, for the first time, the following year. Again, she was difficult to deal with and even tried to re-negotiate the pay on set. I didn’t bite and the shoot continues and was great. I finally got through her exterior and a genuine friendship developed between us.

Twice while I was there, she took me out on the town. We would go to clubs, with lines going down the street. She would just walk right up to the door, with me in tow, and in we would go. No waiting, no cover charges and even free drinks. That is the kind of pull she had there.

In my mind she was the epitome of a Goddess. Although she is no longer with us, I have fond memories of her that I will carry forever.
